Hilmar, Atli and Phil visited us on IRC channel a few hours ago and did small Q&A live session with the community. Check out the log right now:
<HilmarVeigar> I am Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP, nice to meet you all.
<CCP_Praetorian> I am Atli Mar, Creative Director of DUST 514. Most fantabulous to meet ya'll.
<CCP_CmdrWang> Here's the first question....[13:08:34] Ben Gruber: QUESTION: are you going to do a dev blog on playing from the Battlefield commander's POV soon?
<CCP_Praetorian> Ah that one. :) We are laser focused on hardening the shooter experience these days. Over time we will unlock more of the meta and in game functionality. When exactly we will roll out the conquest mode (the one with the commander) has yet to be decided.
Caldari MK25 Gauss Rifle Tech Specs just surfaced on CCPGAMES YouTube channel. This video is part of Templar One video set that you get in QR codes that you scan with your smartphone throughout the book. Enjoy! And you can also see previous video of Myrmidon Tech Specs here.
We've encountered a few sites publishing gameplay videos, sharing gameplay experiences and details from their (or someone they contacted) DUST 514 Closed beta access. Clearly some players did not read the NDA before they hit Accept and now they face permanent ban from DUST 514 on their accounts. CCP Navigator had this to say on EVE Online forums:
Recently, there has been a spate of instances where individuals participating in the DUST 514 Closed Beta have breached their NDA. We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that as part of the DUST 514 Closed Beta, accepting and adhering to the NDA is a legally binding requirement that all DUST 514 Closed Beta participants have agreed to.
We understand and appreciate your enthusiasm for DUST 514. After all, it isn’t every day that one has the opportunity to participate in a ground breaking event that bridges two gaming platforms to create a new MMO genre. However, it is equally important that everyone follow the terms and conditions of the NDA so that we may protect the integrity of the DUST 514 Closed Beta testing phase. If you are not familiar with or do not recall the NDA, here’s the link to the on-line location of the NDA.
Going forward, we will continue to enforce the NDA to its fullest measure and any Closed Beta participants found in breach of the NDA will receive a permanent ban on their DUST 514 account(s), without exceptions. We realize and value the time and efforts from all of you participating in the DUST 514 Closed Beta to make DUST 514 a great MMO experience to the world and we wish to see all of you continue to contribute in this regard. Thank you.

There’s a horde a coming
One of the many things that CCP confirmed at Fanfest 2012 is that DUST 514 will include PvE. Now DUST 514 is an FPS game. How are they going to do PvE? Well it’s simple really. You unleash the horde.
For those of you that don’t know about horde or survival games, it’s where you or you and a group and other players have to survive against waves of AI controlled enemies. While the first few waves of enemies are easy to dispatch (if not cannon fodder) they get harder as you progress. Different games have different methods of doing this through either; introducing new, more powerful enemies; strengthening the standard mooks; or making the players weaker. Players keep playing until they either use up all their lives or they complete all waves (if the game even has a limited number of waves).
Now what does this have to do with DUST 514? Well one other thing that CCP mentioned at Fanfest was that your first opponents would be The Rogue Drones. Their story within New Eden is that they were an experiment in AI that went terribly wrong, escaped and has now spread to the point that they infest every corner of New Eden. They expand by taking any raw material and using it to build more of themselves.

It seems that some PlayStation players are receiving their DUST 514 beta keys right now and downloading client. The client size is 1507mb + additional patches (around 700+). We will update this article once we find out more, but keep in mind that NDA is in place so you won't get any screenshots or videos from people that are in. The most important part is at the moment if people can actually log in and play or just download client and wait for CCP to give them green light which can be months from now as far as we know.
Update 1: CCP CmdrWang Just confirmed that Sony is sending out 5000 closed beta keys to their testers which have access to the current beta build.
Update 2: Current state of the beta is pre-fanfest build which is rather old and is used for stress-testing mostly. Sony needs to approve another big patch for DUST 514 and once they do Fanfest attendees and others will be able to get into the beta and start playing newest build of the game. This will happen during the next week or so.
Update 3: Currently the server is only available between 11:30 UTC Fridays and 11:00 UTC Mondays, with daily downtime betweeen 11 and 11:30.
Stay tuned.
Polygon posted yet another video that shows Character Sheet and various skills that you can have in DUST 514 as well as the Market for the first time. This is character that has every single skill on level 5 (maxed out), and it would take years to get to that point (as mentioned on DUST 514 keynote as well).
Let's see what kind of skills we have here:
It seems that last week's DUST 514 press event was very successful! The Verge just posted article about DUST 514 and also did interview with David Reid, CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) of CCP Games. Enjoy!

This in-game screenshot just got "leaked" by CCP Praetorian on twitter while he was in the pub with Hilmar and Kjartan. We know this image is not supposed to go through but since he tweeted it we felt like it should be fun to just publish it - and besides, it looks pretty damn impressive!
Grideris' Analysis: From what I can see at a glance, it looks like a new type of dropship on the right, possibly Caldari due to the straight lines. Below it and a little bit to the left is a very tiny vehicle. Doesn't look like it has a turret, so I'm guessing APC. And on the left we have what looks like a new type of structure group. But that's not all. See those buildings in the distance? I'm betting they're part of the map, not just background elements. Is that a big enough map for you guys?
Additions from Broadcastorm: CCP just confirmed that they will visit us on IRC next week as well. Feel free to join us on irc.coldfront.net #DUST514 channel and talk with devs from time to time! If you are not irc-client savvy, you can always click here and join us straight away!
Today we will try to explain in detail how you will start playing DUST and what choices you can make further into the game.
Understanding the different choices you can make is very important, and if you ever wondered what the very beginning will look like, this is the right place to be. Thanks to Fanfest 2012 we got a whole bunch of new info on how the universe is going to work, how much freedom you'll have defining your own role, and some brand new, never before seen gameplay mechanics.
