i heave heard rumors about dust only bing for the PS3..... if this is true i have lost faith in ccp as a company, as they exclude the much larger market of xbox players....
DUST 514 only for PS3???!!!
No, its not certain. A developer has said its possible for it to be either PS3 or 360 exclusive though.

I would also agree with this rumour being bogus. So far, everything we have heard points towards it being on both consoles.

and slander?
Why lies? I don't believe that gamestop would lie about this. Unless you mean that sindavathar is lying about gamestop saying something...

directed to the OP, I hope its not exclusive to any system so I will assume any coment to the contrary is wrong untill the official announcment.

Now it all makes sense. I also share your optimism with regards to DUST on multiples platforms.
you think it will be only for consoles or for PC too?
it will forever be a console thing. CCP doesnt want to hurt Eve by having two online games running at once on a PC.
I'd love to see the game on both consoles, my question is how are they going to convince MS and Sony to go along with this? I mean I guess it worked for FFXI but rarely ever have these two companies got along. Personally I own both Consoles so even if it does become an exclusive (Which I doubt because taking away from sales for this game cold mean an early grave) isn't a huge deal.
My personal choice of console would be the PS3, however.
If it comes down to choosing which console version I get it really depends on the following
1. Pricing, if I can get it for PS3 and avoid the added Xbox Live charges awesome (However at the same time Xbox has a much better track record for online services than Sony's PS3)
2. Headset: Console game or not if one is going to play this game seriously I need to get myself a headset up to the task yet is still comfortable. Right now Xbox has the best of them as far as I know
3. Controller: I know a lot of people are wanting mouse/keyboard support. Which is cool. However if the game supports both mouse/keyboard AND basic console controller it will lead to the game being unbalanced since like it or not, mouse/keyboard > controller. They need to make it one or the other, and I have a feeling basic controller will win out. Out of the two consoles that the game is being made for I'd prefer the PS3 because of it's light weight, rumble would be nice but that may screw up accuracy at key moments.
4. Communication: What form of Mic(s) will we be allowed? Right now the Xbox has a much wider range of Mics you're able to use. Bluetooth is great, but plugged in mics are more reliable.
Just my thoughts... and questions.

Well you can remove point 1 - I believe CCP would take advantage of Microsoft's "MMOs don't need Xbox live Gold to play online" policy.
well tbh the worst thing CCP can do is use xbox live.... and if it ever does go on PC it better not use games for windows live.... because frankly microsoft couldnt run a p**s up in a brewery.... Not a great lover of sony tbh but Not had the ps3 so cant comment on it.
And making a game on console only can still affect eve's numbers just as if it was on PC... its a different style of play... alot of Eve has been asking for this for years.... we can expect many eve players to leave for dust... some temp some permenantly.... likewise we should expect some to hear about dust and come to eve.

They likely know this, and accept it, because frankly I see this as a good plan for them. Just think about it... how many of us don't play EVE for the reason it takes so long of just letting your account sit there until it's useful? I know it's one of the reasons I don't play. So in releasing DUST they give EVE players a game they can play on their TV while EVE is left to brood on their computers. I think any serious EVE players will also be playing DUST.
However is saying what I did people that only play DUST are vital as well, because they are the regulars and the ones who will likely succeed the most in the game itself. Right now I only plan to play DUST, but we'll see. That stance may change depending on how good the game is and how it transforms EVE.

Ps3 can use Bluetooth and USB, so it has a much, MUCH larger range of available headsets, but the standard 360 headset is great quality and should do fine.
I don't think it will be on a specific console. I know a lot of people don't like Microsoft but live has the biggest contingent(hope I spelled that right) of console gamers online. The best example of this was battlefield 1943, xbox live users were pitted against ps3 players to unlock a map before the other. The goal was 10 million kills, xbox players unlocked it in 5 days, it took ps3 players another week to get to that mark. Now I'm not going to try and start a xbox vs ps3 debate here so simply put I think sony and microsoft will deal with each other like they did for FF
well i have both so im not too bothered.i prefer the xbox but the ps3 could hold more( i think now amnt certain) take mag for instance.if that works it might just push it towards ps3.

The number of players supported depends more on how they build the game and the server infrastructure behind it in this case.
By the say a decent headset for the PS is the Turtle beach P21, this just about brings it close to the super offerings for the Xbox. I'm not saying Sony messed up on this but struggling to get game sound and voice coms in 1 headset was a massive underestimation on how games are played.
And no I hope it is cross platform as I have lots of friends I would like to play with (and against) that have an Xbox where I play mostly on the PS3.
